University of Washington Departments of Medicine and LabMed & Pathology’s Gastroenterology BioSample Repository, Translational and Molecular Research Lab Cores and Registries succeed through your partnership

Patients, clinician investigators, external scientists and industry collaborators are welcome to contact us. Internal and Cancer Consortia credentialed research collaborators may submit proposals for extant biosamples, prospective sample collection initiatives and population data abstraction at internal research enclave here.

Partnering with the UW Departments of Medicine and LabMed&Pathology is one of the best ways to spur innovation in our research missions: accelerating precision population health care delivery and elucidating human molecular biology.

Patients granting clinician investigators access to health data variables and/or allowing biospecimen utilization from our Biorepository and Research Registries accelerate our quest for cures. Thank you for considering collaborating with the University of Washington in research. Please discuss with our coordinators at your next clinic visit or when scheduling a procedure at our four locations: UWMC Montlake, Harborview Medical Center, Northwest Hospital and Kirkland Eastside Specialty Clinic. Contact giresearch@medicine.washington.edu for further details regarding inclusion in clinical trials for late phase therapeutics and minimally-invasive molecular diagnostic devices and panels —potentially intercepting a wider variety of diseases earlier and more cost effectively.

Financial contributions to the Haggitt Endowed Chair are another means to contribute to these endeavors.

Chronological age is a prominent risk factor for many types of cancers including colorectal cancer (CRC). Yet, the risk of CRC varies substantially between individuals, even within the same age group, which may reflect heterogeneity in biological tissue aging between people. Epigenetic clocks based on DNA methylation are a useful measure of the biological aging process with the potential to serve as a biomarker of an individual’s susceptibility to age-related diseases such as CRC
